After exhausting more common funding options like personal savings accounts and loans from family and friends, Jonathan Pascual turned to Kickstarter to raise the last portion of seed money he needed to start Taproom Coffee. At the time, the crowdfunding platform was relatively new, but he was able to use his Kickstarter campaign as both a source of funding and an initial marketing campaign for his business.

The result? Jonathan’s campaign raised over $21,000 in startup funding.
